Hackathon
YS2C Hackathon
Build tools that accelerate cancer research
A collaborative, international hackathon hosted within the YS2C ecosystem—bringing together early-career scientists, clinicians, and computational researchers to prototype impactful ideas in oncology.
Timing
Dates will be announced soon. In the meantime, you can express interest and prepare your proposal.
Abstract submissions will open soon.
A Google Form link will be added here when ready.
Scope
The YS2C Hackathon aims to produce tangible prototypes: open-source tools, reproducible pipelines, dashboards, educational resources, or interoperability improvements—anything that can make oncology research faster, more reliable, and more collaborative.
Data & AI
Integration, annotation, benchmarking, reproducibility, model evaluation.
Translational impact
Clinical reporting, decision support ideas, meaningful endpoints, explainability.
Open science
Workflows, documentation, packaging, datasets, community standards.
Format
- Teams: 3–6 participants (you can join solo; we’ll help match you).
- Tracks: wet-to-dry interfaces, computational pipelines, educational tools, open standards.
- Deliverables: a short pitch + demo + public repo (preferred) or reproducible package.
- Mentorship: senior scientists and engineers available for office hours.
How to participate
- Submit an idea (or select an existing challenge).
- Join or form a team (we facilitate matchmaking).

Call for ideas
Have a strong problem statement? Propose a challenge that can be meaningfully prototyped within a hackathon.
We encourage projects that are open, reusable, and clearly scoped.
FAQ
Do I need a team to apply?
No. You can apply alone and join a team through matchmaking.
Can projects use sensitive data?
We encourage public or properly de-identified datasets. If your project requires restricted data,
you must ensure full compliance with your institution’s policies and applicable regulations.
Will there be prizes?
We plan to recognize the best projects (impact, reproducibility, and community value). Details will be announced.
How do I submit an abstract / idea?
A Google Form submission link will be added on this page as soon as submissions open.
